Compare The Russian Civil War To The Battle Of The Cowshed

The war between the “Reds” and the “Whites” A simple dispute can lead to a war that will change history forever. Orwell shows this in a fascinating way relating the Russian Civil War to the Battle of the Cowshed. When the animals are getting rid of their ruler, they are free to do whatever that pleases them. They decide to establish rules that could change their lives forever. When their ruler comes back and tries to take back the farm, the animals do amazing things that were learned from Julius Caesar’s Campaigns. The Russian Civil War connects to Animal Farm, because the Bolsheviks defeats the White army and the Animals win the Battle of the Cowshed. Which leads to creation of Animal Farm/ new Soviet Union. As for the Russians, they had the same goal in mind. “…the past three months the pigs had succeeded in reducing the principles of Animalism to Seven Commandments…form an unalterable law which animals…must live for ever after” (Orwell 42). This shows that the Animals have set up the way of communism where all the lower classes of animals are equal to each other. But as time goes on, the Bourgeoisie start using the Proletariat to their advantage. This is found in Russian history. “…first priority was to create the communist state that Lenin and the Bolsheviks had once envisioned” (Joseph Stalin p9). The same thing here happens in Animal Farm and the same result too, where the start taking advantage of their powers. The result of the Civil War in Animal Farm were heartbreaking. “The windmill had ceased to exist...They had won, but they were weary and bleeding…the sight of their dead comrades stretched upon the grass moved some of them to tears” (Orwell 109). This matches what happens in Russian history because they both display loss of civilian lives and economic ruin. It also relates because when the animals lost a windmill that was two years into creation. It to be great for the economy, but it got destroyed. Resulting in failure of country’s infrastructure for short while, like in Russia. At the end of the Civil War, the Animals gotten so used to being taken advantage of the forgotten how the old farm used to function. They were fed with propaganda and believed everything they heard and saw. This was like the Russian Government feeding their people lies and leaving the dissatisfactory stuff
