What would you do if you didn’t have anyone to love you or eat with? Well, for these grandparents, that is what happened for a while. First you will read about the grandfather in the folktale, “The Old Grandfather and His Little Grandson”. Then you will read about the Abuelito, meaning grandaddy, in the poem, “Abuelito Who”. Finally, you will read about the similarities and differences between the two. The two share a universal theme. A universal theme is like a lesson that can be learned over time by different people. Let the people you love know you love them and treat them with kindness. In the folktale, “The Old Grandfather and His Little Grandson”, the grandfather is mistreated.
