Taking a glance at my bookshelf makes it seem like I don’t have a particular type of genre I favor. I have books on: vampires, fairy tales, romances, science-fiction, health, history, memoirs, culture, and religion. Amidst all the variety, I enjoy reading romance novels the most. When I read romantic novels, I grow to become very connected to the characters. Sometimes I even feel like I am part of the characters’ relationship. Their heartbreaks and happiness starts to become mine too. I love this type of emotion that comes with reading romantic novels. There have been times when I have cried while reading a romance story, and other times I have thrown the book across the room because it was so frustrating. The story follows the narrative of both Eleanor and Park and how they fought to make their relationship last, knowing that first love almost never lasts. Throughout the book, I loved the heartache, pain, warmth, humor, and sarcasm. This book taught me that even if you never see a special person again, they change you in ways that no one else will ever understand. They will always hold that little piece of your heart that no one else will ever be able to touch. These kinds of stories prepare you for the future heartbreaks and complicated relationships that are yet to come. It also teaches you about commitment and how to build strong relationships.
