Feminist, a person who believes in the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. Most of America will call this a radical movement, but others will consider this uplifting and supporting the self love of women. Political concepts always seem to make a way into media, and luckily many females have done a great job of representing women as powerful, intelligent, and beautiful human beings. Music transforms everyone;however, only a few songs can transcend us into the realization and equality of women. Amazing females like Aretha Franklin with her late 60’s hit “Respect” made women feel empowered. Malcolm X, another strong figure in the black community once said “The most disrespected person in America is the black woman.” (Billboard.com)This album displayed women of color in the most respectful way creating more controversy in society. To back track a little bit, “lemonade” wasn’t Beyonce’s first time speaking on women’s right and uplifting women of all magnitude. It all started at a young age of performing in a group called Girls Tyme, then slowly transitioning to Destiny Child with songs like “Independent women”, and “Survivor”, which has caused an impact within society. As a solo artist Beyonce has created one of the most powerful songs within the last decade “Run the World (Girls),” The beauty of the song and power of the music video striked confidence in young and older women of all race.
