For example, from the years of 111 B.C., Vietnam was colonized by the Han Dynasty and then again in 1954 by the French. Thus, different types of cultures arises when travelling in different parts of Vietnam. However, with the rise of the Indochina wars, Vietnam began to mold into the famous country we now know today. With the imaginary division that still holds animosity, the north and south are culturally divided. When Vietnam broke out from Chinese dominion, Vietnam began to spread their influence in the Champa Kingdom and soon the areas they conquered would known to be south and central Vietnam and for 200 years, Vietnam have two ruling governments. One North and the other South. But between 1787 and 1802, the South conquered North Vietnam and established their imperial government in Hue in 1802. Animism was the religion most people had adhered to in Vietnam, before Chinese colonization. Unlike traditional Animism, Vietnam’s take animism was a mix animism and the idea of “veneration of the dead” Ho Chi Minh is an extremely important figure because he led the resistance against the French rule. Ho Chi Minh was born during the french control in 1890. He moved to Hue with his brother to study at a prestigious Franco-Vietnamese Academy. Later, he travelled around the world, visiting places in many continents, including North America, and eventually settled down in London. Then in 1917, in the height of WWI, he moved to Paris and became involved in leftist and anti-colonial activism. In 1919, he founded Annamite Patriots which were composed of Vietnamese nationalists who were opposed to the French colonial occupation in Vietnam. As Vietnam began to reflect Chinese cultures during the Chinese colonization during the 10th and 18th century. For example, to get a high role in the government, one must know the classics of Chinese teachings, and often civil exams would be about the Chinese classics.
