Humans in general, often times desire something that they don’t possess. For instance, in the short story “A&P”, the protagonist, Sammy, works at the A&P and notices three girls walking into the store with nothing but bikinis. Over the course of the story, Sammy observes the “main” girl, Queenie, and her friends and eventually, quits his job when the manager tells the girls to follow store policy for wearing bikini-clad clothing. In the end, Sammy is left jobless and empty handed with the girl, Queenie, and is then pondering about the future. Overall, Sammy’s desire for Queenie and him advocating for her due to her clothing led him to be somewhat of a hero.

Ambition can get in the way of how people perceive others feelings and might not see how it affects others like how in The Great Gatsby, Gatsby's ambition for Daisy was so strong that he didn’t stop to think about how the situation was affecting her. Gatsby went and told Tom that Daisy never loved him, and that hurt Daisy because she did love Tom at one point.
The Columbian Exchange was a time of trade between the Old World (Europe) and the New World (Americas). This event occurred in 1492, when Columbus began his first voyage between the two worlds. The exchange brought drastic change for the Europeans and the Native Americans. There were four main components exchanged throughout this time including: diseases, plants, animals, and people. This event was necessary in history because it opened up trade ways between the two worlds and helped modernize the economy of the two.
Charles has become afflicted with loneliness. To provide him with some of his only human contact, Charles seeks out prostitutes, which provide him comfort. “There is great safety for shy man with a prostitute” (45). In addition, he finds security in work even though it is hard and remorseless because it brings him relief from his misery. Another person adsorbed by work is Adam, he has yet to figure out a way to live life outside the war.
American Urbanization started like a wildfire and it spread so rapidly that facilities and institutions in society could not keep up. From 1850 to 1900 America completely changed from its agricultural state into a new industry based society. The four paramount changes that occured during America’s urbanization period were new immigration, the build up of cities (skyscrapers and mass transit), living conditions, and boss rule and the rise of mass consumption. Even though the changes during urbanization did not come easily due to immense diversity, they still paved the way to modern day America.

Porphyria’s Lover is a poem about a man who loves a girl so much and wants to be with her forever, and knowing that her family wouldn’t allow it, he kills her so he can stay with her. In the story, “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell, and the poem, “Porphyria’s Lover,” by Robert Browning,” both passages use conflict and irony to convey that when an individual becomes obsessed, it can lead to something much more dangerous, and sometimes the effects can be irreversible.
Sometimes in many books and stories, characters use their motivation to fulfill a goal they have set. These said characters can be driven by love, money, greed, or revenge. Greed and money can take a toll over someone's life very greatly and affect their mindset. In The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, one of the main protagonists, Petruchio, is driven by his greed to find a wife and money that comes along with her. Petruchio's intentions for his marriage are very great and demanding.

Such as seeing the woman in the wallpaper move, which means that the narrator is the touch with reality and wishes to do what she wants. In addition, she also sees the woman not only in the wallpaper, but imagines that the room she is staying in used is meant to be something but in reality, it was a room to keep her. Moreover, the narrator cannot express herself because society will not allow it and is dominated by her role as a woman. People have beliefs that short stories that are deemed reliable.
Ambition is a natural part of human existence, every person has it at least a little. It is when ambition grows too large and takes control of us that it becomes dangerous. It becomes obsessive and soon nothing will stop the person obsessed. Just by looking around at our world today, one can clearly see the results of unchecked ambition. Unchecked ambition can be destructive to a society and cause the society's downfall.
Everybody always has dreams in their own life, some dreams are achievable and some are not. People without self-confidence are always scared of chasing dreams because failure is like nightmare in their minds. Nevertheless, those people will never know what did they give up, their crystalline dreams. On the other hand, people with enthusiasm always chase their dream without reasons because they will feel regret if they didn’t try; they may be successful however when they try to challenge themselves. Thus, it is important for people to chase their dreams, challenge themselves and achieve their goals.
Similarities and Differences between Two Cities A city is a place where a large number of populations resides for the permanent period of time. City’s importance depends upon the size, location, and structure of the area. Cities have the highly organized population which is comparatively bigger than town or village. A city can provide different opportunities to know about the culture and language.
Living in a diverse world it’s distinction and similarities. The village is a small area with a small population. Life in the village is very basic and traditional while life in the city is full of luxury and modernity. Cities have a large population and it is often noisy and crowded. On the other hand, the lifestyles in villages and urban areas are totally different, but you can hardly find any similarities.
