I disagree with this statement as I believe poetry is challenging to write. By reading poems written by Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman, I further support poetry being hard to write. Their poems use numerous types of figurative language to express certain feelings. Walt Whitman’s “Song of Myself” is written very artistically as he uses imagery to display a picture. The first line of the poem is very strongly written as I feel like I can see the story unfolding myself, “The spotted hawk swoops by and accuses me, he complains of my gab and loitering.” Writing poetry involves portraying a deeper message using complex ideas and figurative language.
