Othello and Iago are two very similar men. Although Othello is known to have more of a caring side then Iago, they both portray jealousy and they let that jealousy take over them which is very noticeable while reading the novel. While reading the novel Iago is known as the “villain” of the play and Othello is known to be innocent, but getting more into the novel the reader can notice more similar traits between them both. When readers get to the end of the book they notice the evil features in both Othello and Iago, but in the end of the day Othello is a better person than Iago.

In the play we sense jealousy first in Rodrigo, we notice it when he is talking to Iago and he tells him that he wants Desdemona but everyone knows that her and Othello are already in love. Roderigo was so jealous that he let this take over them and he even went to the extreme to try and separate Desdemona and Othello. This is a horrible thing to do because when someone is happy you always have to be happy for them, or at least try to be happy for them, but this is not what Roderigo decides to do. Iago shows his jealousy side towards everyone but she shows it with power and envy, this leads to him trying to ruin everyone and try to kill and destroy everyone in power around him because he is just simply jealous. There is no specific matter that Iago was jealous of but he simply always wanted to be in power and to control everyone around him.
