Comparing King Arthur And Lord Bercilak In Green Knight

Arthur is a medieval king whom appear in stories involving romance, chivalry, trust, and betrayal. Lord Bercilak whom appears in the “Green Knight” puts one of Arthurs knight to many tests and tasks. Both Arthur and Lord Bercilak have a connection in which how they respond and take action when both their brave knights have committed problems. Arthur and Lord Bercilak are Compared and contrasted using romance, nobility, and betrayal.
In Arthur his wife had committed adultery with Lancelot his first knight. While Lord Becilak his wife tried to seduce Gawain and making him accept gifts he did not want to receive “lady of the castle attempts to seduce Gawain, but nobly rejects her advances” (pg. 118). This shows that Gawain is a noble knight until he has to face Lord Bercalik who has to give Gawain a blow to the head with an axe. lady bercilak offers Gawain a green belt which will protect him from any hit. He accepts it and lies to Lord Bercilak that he didn’t receive him anything. Lord Bercilak finds out everything that happens and confronts Gawain saying that he has put him to a task. “I know the tale, and the count of your kisses and your conduct too, and the wooing of my wife it was all a scheme!” (pg.182). …show more content…

Arthur is a king with respect and power. Lord Bercilak is a man/ knight, not as high in class as Arthur but both are wise and have great thought in which how they both take action in the stories. Especially Lord Bercilak to Gawain “I hold you polished as a pearl, as pure and as bright as you had lived free” (pg.183). Arthur, in from Morte d’ Arthur goes to war with Mordered but Arthur dies. He did what was right and did it with honor. Many believed many believed he would come back from the dead and rise as king again “yet some men say in many parts of England that king Arthur is not dead”
