The two developmental theories being compared are Jane Loevinger’s theory of Ego Development and The Family Life Cycle Framework. Loevinger uses the term Ego, introduced by Sigmund Freud and it is defined as understanding yourself (Freud). The ego development begins in young adults as understanding that you are your own person, separate from anyone else. Full ego development means reaching your Autonomous Self.
