“I will not do such with a filthy man like you Paris, you are nothing like the man I love,” Juliet stated. The Capulets arrived filled with joy seeing their daughter alive after they had just said goodbye for the final time. “Daughter let’s return home and everything will be better and you will. Never have to worry again. You and Paris married and happily be together and we can pick up just where we left off.”
They never stopped to consider that Juliet would need time to grieve the death of her cousin and that she had said earlier she wanted to wait until she was older to get married. But her parents were so blinded by the idea of their daughter marrying the County Paris they failed to really consider how she felt about the whole thing. When Lady Capulet is telling Juliet about her and Capulet’s plans to wed Juliet and Paris, Lady Capulet tells her daughter that Capulet is “One who to put thee from thy heaviness, Hath sorted out a sudden day of joy That thou expects not nor I looked not for.” (3.5.112-114) and that Juliet will “Marry… early next Thursday morn The gallant, young, and noble gentleman, The County Paris, at Saint Peter’s Church,” (3.5.116-118). She clearly was trying to sell the idea of Paris to Juliet because she knew her daughter would be hesitant.
For all of the words and actions Lord Capulet spoke to Juliet she would rather die than marry Paris, which is why Lord Capulet is responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s
The next day they ended up getting married and had to hide it from their parents. That’s where Paris comes in and he wants to marry Juliet. Since Lord Capulet doesn’t know about Romeo he wants Juliet to get married to Paris. Juliet tells her father that she doesn’t want to marry Juliet. Lord Capulet says that he will disown his own daughter if she doesn’t.
In Shakespear’s play Romeo and Juliet, we find that many of the innocent characters get killed. Paris is, unfortunately, one of these characters. Paris is the most eligible bachelor in the city of Verona. The Nurse even says, “He’s a wax of a man,” (A1, S3). At the beginning of the play, we find that the Capulets throw a party for Paris hoping that he will one day marry their only daughter, Juliet.
Right before the party, where Juliet and Romeo first meet, Paris decides that he wants Juliet to be his wife, which causes problems to both families. He starts to cause this drama when he exclaims to Capulet, “Younger mothers are happy mothers made” (1.2.12). This shows that Paris is willing to say anything to make Juliet his wife, which is the younger she is, the better. This contributes to the tragedy because when he says this, Capulet decides to give Paris a chance at marriage with Juliet later in the play. This chance at marriage gets Paris one step closer to having Juliet.
That makes Juliet concerned because she likes Romeo. First, he tells Juliet to marry Paris which she doesn’t want to happen. This is found in Act 3 scene 5. Second, Lord Capulet rages at Juliet when he notices that she doesn’t want to marry Paris. He then tells Juliet that he will never see her again.
Montague and Capulet are both greedy because they did not put aside their differences and end their ongoing dispute, even though it lead to people getting hurt. Instead, Montague and Capulet watched Verona struggle with deaths and fights, but refused to do anything about it. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet both knew they would never be able to love each other due to their parents feud. This caused them to keep their love hidden which lead to trouble later in the play. “The fathers stand for the accumulated experience of the past, for tradition, for authority and hence for the two most potent forces that mold and so impart “destiny” to the child’s life” (Goddard par 5 ).
Capulet is initially hesitant and tells Paris to, “let two more summers wither in their pride” (1. 2. 10), but with a witty response, Paris says, “younger than she are happy mothers made” (1. 2. 11). Capulet is convinced by Paris’s words and their conversation ends with Capulet declaring that a party will be held to celebrate his daughter’s marriage. Capulet has invited, “many a guest… I love” (1.1. 22-23), suggesting that Capulet has high regard for Paris. Paris is a societal paragon; therefore, Juliet would have no issues marrying.
When Juliet gets the news that she will be marrying Paris, from her parents, she rejects the idea. Paris does not even ask her why she does not want to marry him; he just waits for her parents to force her into it. Which does not build a particularly good relationship between them for soon to be newlyweds. When him and Juliet were at Friar Laurence’s cell, he says “happily met, my lady and my wife” (4.1.18) Paris was teasing Juliet calling her his wife before they were even married.
The Reality of Romeo Romeo a kind, noble sir. Romeo is a character that is more realistic to today's audience. Romeo shows heroism and compassion all through the play. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, is supposed to be a tragedy it shows how love was won, but by hurt and sadness that was done. Romeo shows his love for Juliet in many special and heroic ways throughout the story.
( II, ii, l. 121-122) She even agrees to get married to Romeo the very next day. Juliet’s rebellious streak is yet again evident when she says she will not marry Paris. In the patriarchal society that she lives in, she is expected to obey her father's . When Juliet says that Paris "shall not make me there a joyful bride".
When Juliet sees Paris, he is asking all these questions about loving him, Juliet never tells him she is married causing him to want to still marry her. " That may be, sir, when I may be a wife" (IV.1.19). Juliet will not tell Paris how she feels causing him to want to marry her, if she just told him the truth about her feelings and wasn’t arrogant about it, she would still be alive. During this all Friar Laurence is there listening to Juliet talk to Paris and he never jumps in to tell Paris that she is married. "The correlation between the behaviors of the friar and of other characters indicates that accepting Paris, defiance of conventional expectation is wholesale.
