The 1963 version of the film shows exactly where the story took place at a certain time and that is very important for the viewer as it tells them about a specific part of the book unlike the 1990 version which had the plot changed up for dramatic effect. Next, the 1963 version uses the exact same characters that were used in the book but in the 1990 version, there is an adult influence on the island in Captain Benson which may cause the boys to behave differently and in the end not be as savage as they were in the 1963 version.
