Love and hate are very closely related emotions, while they make you feel different, they are expressed in a similar manner. Often times, both emotions can cause you to make irrational decisions and extreme behavioral adjustments. However in the case of classic work Romeo and Juliet, love is more prominently illustrated over hate. The author William Shakespeare uses figurative language and dramatic irony to portray how beautiful love can be, or rather how much of a disaster. It can cloud your judgment and cause much confusion or it can make you the happiest you will ever be.
The Path of Hate and Feud to Death. When Mercutio dies, Romeo gets filled with anger and kills Tybalt, causing all the horrible events that follow. The story of Romeo and Juliet is about two young teens falling in love with families that despise each other. Eventually, the hate gets out of control, and they die.
Hate is stronger than love. Why? Well, because you see how much hate someone can have for another. You hear more about how much someone hates another person. You smell a stench of people dead body or blood on the ground.
Your parents always told you “Hate is a strong word”. They were right; hate tears people apart, it is the cause of war and feuds , it creates chaos, and ruins lives, hate is destructive. Hate is a powerful weapon that can be accidentally and purposely used. Displays of hatred are often showed in stories and the hate always causes conflict. Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet, are “star-crossed lovers” who get married in secret because there is a feud between their families (Act I, prologue, 6). After their marriage, they make a plan to off and because of this plan, six people die, including them. In William Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, by the use of foreshadowing, conflict, and character relationships, Shakespeare shows how he believes that hate always has a negative effect.
Hate impacts society more than love because hate can affect people directly and indirectly. In Romeo and Juliet early on we learn that two families hate each other the Montagues and Capulets Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. Their families ancient grudge causes a downward spiral of death and sadness throughout the whole story and everybody is affected in a negative way because of the families grudge. In the story a young couple falls madly in love but their love is denied by multiple obstacles leading back to their families grudge. Romeo meets Juliet at a capulet party and they instantly fall in love not knowing each other is a part of their families rival.

In Romeo and Juliet Act III, Romeo and Juliet use parallels to connect love and death. Between Romeo’s banishment from Verona and the feud between the families, Romeo and Juliet see it better off to be dead than to be apart from one another. Romeo declares, “Ha, banishment! Be merciful, say ‘death:’ For exile hath more terror in his look.”
Love is a word that is used every day. It has become a common phrase used in many different contexts. “I love pizza” “I love my mom” “I love the boy I sit next to in Algebra” “I love video games”. But do people really “love” pizza or video games? What even is love?
Romeo and Juliet and their comparison of love creates a story like no other, a story that makes love feel irresistible in some ways. Romeo, a montague and Juliet, a Capulet, both have love for each other that is not meant to be, because of their family’s conflict between each other. Their family’s fight, have arguments, talk behind each other's backs and more that is unspoken of, but even through all of this both younglings of different sides love each other. The story that will be told today will be about both loves that Romeo has or once had, and how they both compare and contrast.
In the play Romeo and Juliet hate is a major role in the story/play. The hate revolves around the hatred between the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. Hatred is shown throughout Romeo and Juliet as shown by peoples’ acts of violence. The story does not reveal why the hatred began, only that it was an ongoing conflict between the two families.
In conclusion, Romeo and Juliet is a story in which love is stronger than hate. The story has many examples where love is stronger than hate. In the end Lord Capulet and Montague end the dispute after Romeo, Juliet, and Paris die. Romeo and Juliet having so much love for each other despite being from families that totally hate each other is the main theme of the story and it is why I think love overpowers hate in Romeo and

It is so relatable till date because people fall in love now as Romeo and Juliet did, families fight, as the Montagues and Capulets did. We can relate to each character in some. Which is what makes this play so compelling and lets it live, five hundred years later. Romeo and Juliet is a tragic tale of two lovers, separated by an epic feud of their two houses (Romeo a Montague and Juliet a Capulet.)
