Culture is an extensively important feature of all life because it is the guidelines to people of other cultures by creating lining of how to respect and treat others. William Shakespeare wrote Macbeth in a Scottish culture, but in contrast to the play, the movie Throne of Blood is a Japanese remake of Macbeth that has a few differences than the play and each culture allows there to be different viewpoints of the characters, especially Macbeth. Shakespeare’s original version of Macbeth allows the reader to analyze the feature of Scottish life-style and how the matter of loyalty is somewhat important, but in Throne of Blood, the actors dramatize this lack of loyalty because of its historical meaning to the Japanese. Shakespeare allows the reader to see how much ego is important because of how much it affects Macbeth when Lady Macbeth says things such as” Wouldst thou have that Which thou esteem’st the ornament of life, And live a coward in thine own esteem” when Macbeth tries to back out of the murder of Duncan, Lady Macbeth clearly is showing her feelings (1,7,41-43). This statement is Lady Macbeth expressing her disappointment in Macbeth because he no longer wants to murder Duncan, Lady Macbeth obviously wants this power of being the queen so badly and it makes the reader notice the actual abuse that Macbeth has mentally. Respect is a necessity and a natural form of action in Japanese cultures, but the Scottish view respect as a probable and ideal, but not as distinctly as the Japanese because the Scottish tend to be more polite than loyal. The Japanese have historically valued the respect of elders and men greatly because in history, it was a very patriarchal society, but the Scottish tend to pay more respect to people of higher classes rather than men or elders. On the other hand, there is already a generalization of the polite or kind attitude of Scots instead of loyalty, but the Japanese culture is greatly revolving around loyalty and respect rather than polite tendencies. The story of Macbeth in the Scottish viewpoint is therefore less dramatic because it does not involve the historical, loyal, and patriarchal values that the Throne of Blood version, or the Japanese version had. Lasty, the differences between the Throne of Blood version and the Macbeth originally by Shakespeare are present because of the cultural and moral differences that are present and partake in the story line
