From the readings of The Matrix, Plato and Descartes, there are a number of similarities and differences that can be noted. The stories talk of a world that is full of illusion and deception. The story of Matrix and that of Plato are very similar because they talk of a world that people are being deceived. In the Matrix, Neo discovered that the world he was living in was an illusion. He was able to see the real world and learnt that everything he thought was real was not real. Morpheus made Neo discover that he was living in a fake world and that he was not trapped in a real prison . It was just a computer program that he was trapped in and that the things he saw were created by the machine. The story is similar to that of Plato who realized that the walls of the cave where they were locked in prison did not actually exist. What existed was the shadows of the walls. Plato discovered that they were being deceived that they are enclosed between prison walls . Plato wanted to tell the other prisoners about his new discovery but then thought that the first knowledge was easier for them to believe. He thought that the men who were chained in the Allegory of the Cave had to find a way to escape so that they can go and seek the truth about the world . On the other hand, when Neo realized that the world he was living in was an illusion, he wanted to learn the truth about the real world. Both Plato and the Matrix were compelled to finding out what the real truth about the world was. However, their acceptance of the truth was
