In half the sky, there has been many side stories that had been told about empowering women who stood up for their beliefs and values that changed the world they’re living to become a better place. Two empowering women who will be compared in this paper is Mukhtar Mai and Edna Adan. Both of these women live in different parts of the world but both share the same values like education. Those values they both hold, they make it a dream come true, possibilities and opportunities that will change the world and inspire many. Mai was devoted in education by spreading it to those who are just like her, living in poverty and couldn’t afford an education. She built schools, started aid group named “Mukhtar Mai Women’s Welfare Organization” and also clinic and public library. Adan’s purpose was to build a hospital aiding those people who struggled to go to the hospital because they live so far. Both women also had different careers, Mai didn’t really have a career but more of overlooking the schools and clinic she built. She was more of going back and forth with her work but mainly her father and her brother did all the talking and work for her. But the thing was, Mai didn’t earn the money to build those school, she had funds and aidfom others to help her with expanding her activities. Compare to Adan, she study abroad in Britain to study nursing, midwife, and hospital management. She built a hospital in her homeland and use all her earning to build the hospital. So it can be said that Adan worked harder by using all her life savings to build her hospital while Mai had helped from others. Another difference is that growing up to reach their accomplishments, even though Adan worked very hard to save and use all her life savings to build her hospital, Mai had it harder. Both women grew up in a poor town/village and at a young age was torn apart as either being raped or getting their genital cut off. They also value education by saying educating a girl, it can educate the whole world. They grew up in poor villages/town and because those poor villages/town didn’t have enough resource so both were devoted in helping their homeland and wanted to built schools and hospitals. Mai and Adan are two inspiring and empowering women, because of their leadership skills, they lead many others to great opportunity as well as being able to make a change to see good things happen in life. Mai great leadership skills lead her to many recognition and despite her many attempts to change and the danger she faces. She was able to help many women who are facing their own struggles and give them a purpose to stand up for themselves. As well for Adan, who usees her leadership skills as a nurse to serve those who went through the same pain she went through and devoted her life in helping those in need, like giving back to her community. Despite the challenges Adan faced like not getting enough fund and using all her life saving or having her project to be constantly abandoned because of the war, she didn’t back down and kept getting up until she made changes. Lastly, Mai and Adan had the same reason and it was to help women in need and spoke out their concerns
