When all of a sudden Peter goes to work the next day to find out no one was working in the office, so his boss comes up to him and had told him he has been accused of communist activities. He does not deny it, because it turns out he had joined some type of organization back in his college years to impress a girl whom he had thought he was in love with. Peter really valued his life and his career very much, you could tell just by his actions throughout the film. One night he went for a drive and he had swerved off the road and had crashed to wake up with he had no recognition of who he was. Long story short an elder man found him on the beach mistaking him as his son Luke who had originally died at war and never returned home until now he had thought.
Everything has its secrets “Persuade him that he wants to come with us more than he wants to stay... if that doesn’t work ill lie to him”(Card16).In the book “Enders Game” by Orson Scott Card, one of the main characters Colonel Graff leads ender through his missions. Ender is chosen from a mix of his brother and sister’s personalities. Peter was too violent, Valentine was to caring and forgiving, and thus ender has both these characteristics. Graff has been watching him, even before battle school and has secretly been testing him. Graff prepares him for a life changing war between them and the buggers.
In the classic novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, Andrew “Ender” Wiggin is a young man who lives in a futuristic world where hostile extraterrestrial beings known as “buggers” have attacked Earth twice, and they almost wiped out mankind in the Second Invasion. The International Fleet (I.F.) plans to attack the bugger world a third time to wipe them out for good, and they take Ender at the young age of 6 to a space station called Battle School to prepare him and other children to possibly graduate to Command School and fight the buggers. Throughout the novel, Card develops Ender’s character traits using influences from other characters, plot development, and Ender changing as he grows older. At the beginning of the story, Ender is 6 years old and wears a small device on his neck, monitoring his behavior to find out whether he is what they need to fight the buggers.
Throughout most of the book, Ender uses Valentine as a way of coping with the constant changes in his life and keeping himself motivated. This is proved on page 43, when Ender says, “I will not be the bugger of my group, -I didn 't leave Valentine, and Mother, and Father to come here just to be iced”. Ender uses Valentine, and his family in order to comfort himself. Ender also uses his family, including his brother Peter, to keep himself from having an emotional breakdown. This means that by comparing himself to Peter or thinking of Valentine, Ender keeps himself from turning into someone who is just a killer, rather than a strategic and wise player of the games that his Battle School are using to try to break him down.
In Orson Scott Card’s book Ender’s Game, Ender is continually set up against impossible odds by the International Fleet, which is part of a plan to train Ender to fight in the Third Invasion and end the bugger wars forever. Ender’s trials are portrayed more convincingly in the book, as the book shows him struggling with the expectations placed upon him more so than in the movie. An important theme in Ender’s Game is that Ender is continually kept in the dark about the events happening around him. This theme is prevalent throughout the book, and sets the stage for the book’s climax, the Third Invasion.
From all of this, Ender’s Game obtained a multitude of distinguished
The two anonymous voices are talking about a boy who they have been watching for some time and want him for what seems to be a serious mission. 2. The characterization of Ender is he is extremely intelligent and can actually be very blunt. Peter is Ender’s older brother who is aggressive along with being a little bipolar.
The Dreamworld: How Does “Free Play” Reflect Ender’s Reality? Although games are typically created with the sole purpose of providing entertainment, the games displayed in Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game are clearly exceptions. One of those games, Free Play, delves into a fantastical yet ominous world. In the novel, Andrew Wiggin, more commonly known by his nickname, Ender, is an extremely intelligent and capable child.
“Just as the next blow was coming, Ender reached up with both hands, snatched the boy by his wrist, and then pulled down on the arm, hard.” () Card and his somewhat applaudable idea of power did not view it sufficient enough for Ender to request the aid of an adult. But did envision Ender reinforcing the agony brought upon him, promulgating his power in such a way he experiences yet another unintended consequence. “…the boy was feeling exactly the pain Ender had meant him to feel…I am Peter. I’m just like him.
Orson Scott Card’s use of symbolism in Ender’s Game demonstrates the central concept of games vs. reality. Ender is the only student to be introduced to an uncharted area of the Fantasy Game; designed to reflect an individual's life and mind. The future of Earth and humankind appears to lie on Ender as he faces the “End of the World”. Unceasingly, Ender proves he is willing to fall into the abyss, but without the hope of surviving. In many of his battles and in the bugger war, Ender disregarded the rules and does his best to go “down”, saving the world and bringing his comrades up from devastation.
Most people will take one specific manner towards certain situations. And different approaches work for different situations. In the book Ender’s Game, Ender’s siblings, Peter and Valentine, have two totally different styles of handling certain situations. Orson Scott Card develops these games to show that Ender has a combination of an aggressive style like Peter, but also can have a more sensible approach like Valentine. These traits are revealed when he plays the games
I read this book many times during the summer, and after this encounter, I suddenly found that what he said was very relatable to the idea of the book. In “Ender 's Game”, Ender was only 8 years old (I think) when he was sent to Command School to be a commander in the humans vs. buggers war. Most people thought that the whole idea of letting a 8 year old child be the person their fate depends on was preposterous. Ender knew that the people were right, but he believed in himself and his cause. He finally defeated the buggers, and led the humans to victory.
March 17, 1838 Dear Diary, Today while sitting in the crispy cold weather, with the clothes that now resembled rags, I sat pondering my life. My face now covered in the unpleasant texture of dirt and smut from the factory; now appeared to have become a part of m. My hands disarrayed and my cracked hands bandaged lay tight in my lap and now mirrored my life. I haven’t any parents to speak of so I found myself this alley where I write to you. Not far from work I await the loud bell to alarm me of my next shift down at the factory.
Importance of Violence Violence is more effective and necessary than other actions such as words during a fight against someone. In Ender’s Game, a boy named Ender Wiggin trains for a war in the Battle and Command School and encounters fights where his best option is violence. Violence is necessary because people need violence in order to win, to protect them, and because the lack of violence leads to loss. Violence is useful for winning a fight for example during the fight against Stilson, “Ender knew the unspoken rules of manly warfare even though he was only six. It was forbidden to strike an opponent who lay helpless on the ground; only an animal would do that,”(Card pg.7).
Peter is ruthless becasue he feels no emotions or regret in killing/murdering his parents due to not getting his way. Peter’s father, “forbade him to take the rocket to New York”(6) and his father decided to turn off, “every machine his hand could get to”(9), which had an impact on him resulting in his plan to murder his parents without
