Plato is known as the most famous and creative philoshpher in Western world. He was born around 428 B.C, when Plato was young he studied poetry and music. In this essay i will explain Plato's theory of the forms with especial attention to the divided line and allegory of the cave. According to Plato, there is another world that exists separate to the material world that we live in, called the eternal world of forms or ideas, only understanding forms can lead to true knowledge. when prisoners sees the shadows of objects on the wall, they start to give names to these shadows.The shadows are as close as prisoners get to view the reality. Plato then explains how the philospher is like a prisoner who is freed from the cave and comes to understand that the shadows on wall do not make up reality at all, basically Plato dinstincts between objects that are real and concepts that exists in our mind.Plato's theory proposed that objects in the physical world merely resemble perfect forms in the ideal world, and that only these perfect forms can be the object of true knowdlege. Our common sense says that that there is real world of sensible objects that can be understood. Well, Plato didn't let the matter stop there but taught that the real world are consists of universal ideas also known as forms, which are not changeable.
