In the Marist winter theatre production, the children put on a medley of three of Edgar Allen Poe’s poems. The first poem used was The Tell-Tale Heart, the second was The Masque of the Red Death, and he third was The Raven. The first play, The Tell-Tale Heart, was about a man who was insane. He killed his patient because his eye had a film over it, reminding the narrator of satanic spirits. After he killed his patient, he cut up the body and placed it under the floor boards in his room. Later, two police officers came to investigate a call from a neighbor. They said that there was a loud shriek and they wanted to make sure everything was fine. This story was put on the stage very well. They had a color changing background that would turn the color of each room. It was a very cool experiencing the changing color and thinking about how I felt while reading the short story. The prince took all of his guests through each room until they reached the end. In the last room they heard the clock strike one. When this happened they all went silent. They were frightened by the dark red room and went back to the blue room. This is slightly different than the story. In the story, the prince partied in each room at a time then went back to the beginning. He then met the person who was dressed as “the red death”. During the play, he called out the person and began to talk to him. After he was done, he fell onto the ground, dead. The people then went to attack the person. When they tried to grab the person, all they could get was their clothes. It was as if nobody was ever in them. When they grabbed the red death, the entire stage went dark before the person was revealed. Then afterward, all of the people in the prince’s palace were infected and slowly
