Relationships, they play an important role in all stories. In the stories “Woman Hollering Creek” by Sandra Cisneros and “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, relationships take part in developing the story. In “Woman Hollering Creek” Cleófilas has two very different relationships between her father, and her husband. In “Lamb to the Slaughter” Mrs.Maloney feels that her relationship with her husband is a good relationship. When Mr.Maloney tells something to Mrs.Maloney their relationship changes. These relationships reveal the many different parts of the story, such as different sides to characters, and to the story itself.
In “Woman Hollering Creek” Cleófilas has two very different relationships between her father and her husband. The relationship she has with her father is wholehearted. Her father knows that her marriage to Juan Sanchez will not end well. Regardless, he tells Cleófilas, “I am your father. I will never abandon you.” This shows that his love for her is unconditional. Although he knows she will get hurt, he allows her to marry Juan, and he loves her no matter how many mistakes she makes, or how detrimental her mistakes are.
