Lucky Lou and Flying Lessons Theme Statement: Persevering to make friends leads to a new stage in your life. Relationships determine how accomplished you will be in life. How you interact with the people around you determines your mood, actions, and success. In the short film Jinxy Jenkins and Lucky Lou, the main characters form new friendships with each other, which improves their quality of life. As well, in the short story flying lessons, the boy's grandmother forces him to make friends and by doing that, his quality of life is increased. After realizing how being alone affects him, he tries and succeeds in making friends. In the short story Jinxy Jenkins and Lucky Lou, Jenkins and Lou are two lonely people. As they go about their lives, they notice how unbalanced and lonely they are without anyone to share it with. Soon after trudging through their lonely days, Jenkins and Lou meet each other. From the instant that they interact, they know that they are meant for each other. As they wander through obstacles, they discover that they balance each other out in that while Jenkins is very unlucky, and Lou is lucky, their negative and positive energies balance out. This makes it so their quality of life is increased. The two stories are similar in that it portrays how important friendships are, to one's well being. Both of these stories start off with miserable main characters who are used to being by themselves and trudging through life on their own. The two stories are similar in multiple ways, including the realization that being alone is not the best for them.
