The short story “The Most Dangerous Game’’, Rainsford was justified in killing General Zaroff . Rainsford is a hunter who fell off a yacht at Ship Trap Island where he meets General Zaroff. General Zaroff is a hunter too. He stays on the island and hunts. Rainsford and General Zaroff are fighting to their death because General Zaroff wants to hunt Rainsford.
To begin with, in “The Most Dangerous Game” Zaroff has unfair advantages compared to the people he is hunting. On page 26 it says,” I give him a supply and an excellent hunting knife. I give them three hours to start. I am to follow, armed with only a pistol of the smallest caliber and range.”
The Most Dangerous game, General Zaroff is like a shadow. He possesses the trait of an evil man because he is a hunter of men. He likes to hunt men because that is the only thing that gives him a thrill, so it makes him a murderer and an evil person. So, shadow represents him because it is very evil to hunt men and want to kill them.
