Taming of the Strew, written by famous poet William Shakespeare in 1590 is a comedy based upon gender roles in society focusing specifically on the traditional roles in which women must act upon in everyday life. Katherine the protagonist of the story is a strong independent women who is easily aggravated from the characters motives towards her. The headstrong Katherine is unwilling to wed but despite Katherine's pursuits Peturchio persuades her by using numerous psychological activities which tames her until she becomes a compliant bride. Whilst the movie Ten Things I hate about you, directed by Gil Junger features the same character personas as Taming of the strew, but the movie is set in an American high school in the 90s.
