The Assassination of Harvey Milk and George Moscone On November 27, 1978, tragedy struck the entire city of San Francisco. It had been reported that member of San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Harvey Milk, and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone were shot and announced dead. Soon after turning himself into the police, it was publicized that Dan White was responsible for the two deaths. The town was shocked, having been under the impression that the three men were friends. It was later declared that the co-workers had gotten into a dispute earlier when White resigned but was declined after asking to be let back on the board. The assassinations of Harvey Milk and George Moscone were undoubtedly unjustified; Dan White left the committee voluntarily and on top of that, chose to break the law because he was angry. His supposed reasoning for leaving was that his salary was not enough to support his family. Several days later, White asked to return, but Mayor George Moscone refused to reappoint him. As it turned out, Milk was the one who instructed Moscone to reject White. What many people need to try and comprehend about this certain situation is that White did it to himself. If someone is dissatisfied and makes a decision on their own to quit their job, that is up to them. The issue, however, is that person coming back and asking to be rehired. Normally when people make these types of choices, they are considering their whole future. It is obvious that these people are moving on, so the people of their former businesses must learn to move onward as well.
