The Big Idea of Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone is that love always overpowers evil. When a troll is let inside Hogwarts, he starts to attack Hermione, but Harry and Ron made it to Hermione just in time to knock it out. It was then, when the teachers saw them, that they were getting punished for leaving their groups. Hermione then steps up and says “Please, Professor McGonagall- they were looking for me… I went looking for the troll because I-I thought I could deal with it on my own- you know because I’ve read all about them” (Rowling 245-246). The reason behind Hermione saying a lie to a teacher, was so that Harry and Ron wouldn’t get in trouble for saving her. He justs knows that the most powerful and evilest wizard known to man, Voldemort, went up to Godric’s Hollow and went to kill Lily and James Potter. Then when Voldemort went to go and kill their son, Harry, he lost all his powers and only gave the little boy a lightning scar. Dumbledore then ordered a dear friend of his called Hagrid to go and retrieve Harry, and deliver him to his aunt and uncle, where Dumbledore will be waiting. As Dumbledore heads to Harry’s relatives home, he encounters Professor McGonagall; Who has been waiting all day, to see Harry find a good home. Dumbledore then says “I’ve come to bring Harry to his aunt and uncle. They’re the only family he has left now” (Rowling 25) This the result of love that Dumbledore can’t resist to leave a baby, who has been recently assaulted by a person, to just leave life as an orphaned. Every single time they meet or when they are in class together, Malfoy will always try to find a way to humiliate or even get Harry in trouble. Then Malfoy suddenly challenged Harry to a Wizard’s duel and Harry accepted it. All night Harry was thinking of how he was going to get in trouble for walking around Hogwarts at night, but “on the other hand, Malfoy’s sneering face kept looming up out of the darkness - this was his big chance to beat Malfoy face-to-face. He couldn’t miss it” (Rowling 215). This is one of the many times that Harry and Malfoy fight against each other, but only this time, Malfoy lied and nearly ended up getting Harry in big trouble.
