The barrier between her and the neighbours after her husband’s death forced her to become reserved and quiet. Her and her son only went into town if they had to. They preferred to stay close to the garden where they felt safe. The death of the husband is the cause of the mothers’ complete change in character. The death let the audience connect with her on a deeper level to understand her pain and suffering.
Irene mentions, “I could not seek them out without putting them in danger again. I had to give up on my search.” (Pg. 258) Knowing one cannot see their family because of their own actions can create one to become hopeless in life. You Can Go Home Again Analysis From pages 495 to 497 author Eve Tushnet wrote an essay titled “You Can Go Home Again.” This essay was about how it is okay to go home and live with one’s parents again if someone is older. First the essay brought up the opposition and what people think about when someone lives with their parents. The essay also brought forth different data and studies about older people that live at home. After that, the essay brought up good points about what living with one’s parents can do for them.
The word “home” is mentioned 138 times throughout Keeper N’ Me. It discusses foster homes, homelessness, Garnet’s many homes, other people’s homes and the home Garnet never thought he would find. There is a difference between a home and a house. The difference isn’t always clear to find, unlike the phrase “home is where the heart is” finding your home can be quite difficult if you don’t know where your heart lies. When Garnet joins Lonnie and his family you could say that his heart laid with them but eventually we learn that their home was not where he belonged no matter how invested his heart was in their family.
She stated “Of course I had something to run from, my father” (Ruth Shilsky 42). Her father was a main cause as to why she would run. Her father would molest her and abuse his power as father to make her fear him. Ruth got away from Virginia whenever she got the chance to. For example when she would go up to New York for the summer and spend it with her mothers side of the family.

Ruth craves human interaction, and begs her husband to sell the house for that very reason. Likewise, Mrs. Wright’s house is described as being “down in the hollow and…lonesome” (Glaspell, 7). The Christmas Carol is a great and popular story, people have made movies and plays about it, though the play can be more accurate. The movies can be very accurate to the actual story. Although it is not a very long play there are many different things going on. The story overall has a great message to it. As in, never say that Christmas lame or not worth it.
Humans are born to be afraid. A feeling of fear is only natural for humans to feel; it is a part of who we are. However, it can be more than just a feeling. Fear can be a weakness in humans even though it is only our natural instinct for survival. Sometimes, fear is so powerful that it can blur our rationality and dominate how we think and what we do.
The Wife of Bath and her tale are the most similar out of all the tales because they both share a domineering outlook over others. In the general prologue she is told to have had five husbands and is described as a looker, “Her face was bold and handsome and ruddy,” (Chaucer 39). In her prologue she goes more in depth of her time spent with her five husbands. Wife of Bath talks most about how she gains control over her husbands. For instance, her fifth husband was the controlling force in their marriage until he made the mistake of hitting her and telling her he would do anything to keep her with him and said, “My own true wife, do as you wish for the rest of your life…” (335).
Mama is thinking that the family just shouldn’t move since all the money is gone. Ruth is trying to convince Mama to still move because the apartment is too small for another baby and having Mama not give up her hope of having a house with a garden. This shows Ruth just wants her family to have a nice home and is willing to work for it even more. Another example of Ruth working hard for her family is when, Ruth begs, “Lena—I’ll work…. I’ll work twenty hours a day in all the kitchens in Chicago….
This causes Ruthie to feel more abandoned that her only friend, her sister, has chosen to leave her alone with nobody; “She would have considered already the fact that I had never made a friend in my life” (Robinson 130). Lucille’s decision to abandon her sister ultimately led Ruthie to find comfort in Sylvie; “Well, we’ll be better friends. There are some things I want to show you” (Robinson 142). Consequently, Ruthie’s interactions with Sylvie creates a maternal bond; “She could as well be my mother” (Robinson 145). Ruthie’s newfound sense of belonging overcomes her feeling toward abandonment.
Frequently, we just pass by people and look down on them since they have no home; but who is to say they don’t have a home? Home is not the house you live in or the country you belong to. It is a place that incites certain feelings and those feeling are what makes a place home. The people on the streets with no “home” may simply find that anywhere in the world is where they call home. Home has two specific set of values that make it more than just a place which are privacy, and safety.
