Collaboration between community and faith-based nursing involves working to boost the quality of health program and outcome of the congregational community. As such, the interconnectedness of health and faith creates a means for providing the health promotion and disease prevention mission into the community through partnerships with congregations committed to the formation and support of faith-based nursing programs. The main goal of the program is to enable community members to lead productive and healthy lives. Community and parish nurses are responsible for providing healthcare services to a congregation through their expertise and understanding of health as a dynamic process involving social, physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of an individual. Moreover, nurses working in community-based hospitals seek to raise the health awareness of the community they serve.
A partnership among community nurses, parish nurses, and faith based communities delivers high-quality, patient-sensitive healthcare as well as other enabling services to diverse and needy populations. Further, the partnership promotes collaboration to encourage alignment of fiscal, health, and other safety net services, which are geared toward promoting the health of a community.
