People were not in their correct state if mind. Tom cheated on Daisy with Myrtle, while Daisy cheated on Tom with Gatsby. All these characters thought of what was pleasant for them, not realizing how it was going to hurt others. They were all desperate for love wanting more and more. They were all unaware of the consequences that were going to be brought against them. It unfortunately ended in a tragedy. They weren't satisfied with what they had and wanted more. One character in specific who selfish and only seked love for herself was Daisy. In my opinion, she knew what she was doing. She let herself when she knew she had a marriage. She had no idea what emotions were in her mind. She didn't know how to express her emotions. She was with Tom and loved him. Yet, she loved Gatsby. All the mess was caused by her, she was a selfish shallow character. She can bring herself to do one thing , let go of one thing or love the other. Daisy wants everything and she doesn't care what consequences come. She wants the lover , she wants the big house. The money , the lifestyle without any care for others
