A Utopian Fantasy and A Dystopian Mess Dystopian and utopian societies are both based on something from the past before the futuristic society is presented. A dystopian society is a defective society that is hated, it is usually characterized as a very controlling government where everyone is the same. A utopian society is a perfect place where nothing goes wrong and everyone is happy, it’s a visionary system of political or social perfection. Examples of where a dystopian society is presented is the Matched book series, The Hunger Games series, Divergent series, and The Maze Runner. An example of utopian is heaven because it is perfect and everyone is happy. It understandable why people might want a utopian, a perfect society because it would make everything a lot more simple, there wouldn’t be violence, poverty, war, homeless, etc. It would be easy and who wouldn’t want a world where everything was perfect, because perfect means without defects. People might want a perfect society because it means no pain, and people want safety, security. It is easier when everything is without flaw and it is safer as well as better. It is better to have a life where there isn’t pain, where there isn’t stress, violence, depression, fear, diseases, illnesses, etc. People who lose a loved or experience traumatic experience will sometimes fall into depression and it will cause them great pain because of it. And there is no possible way to erase your memory, unless you blived in a utopia such as The Giver.
