From the initial reaction to the announcement, everyone seemed excited as can be. Three long, hard months of work all come down to just five shows, each two hours long. To have these musicals there is a lot of work to be done in a little amount of time. At Kings Junior High every performer is not only required to be at all of their rehearsal times, but have private one on one singing coaching, and donating some of their time to the building of the set. For a show to have a good outcome, every single person must be putting in a lot of time and effort, not just as rehearsals but at home also.
Although most antagonist share a lot of the same traits as the villain with being conniving, evil, and looking for a way to sabotage the protagonist, Hamlet’s Claudius and The Lion King’s Scar are significantly different. They of course aim for the same motives, but the way they go about situations and their overall personas are like night and day. To start off, they both have extremely different relationships with the protagonist. Claudius from the beginning wants to be on good terms with Hamlet, with reminding him that he’s now not only his uncle, but his stepfather.
Polonius Vs. Zazu When comparing and contrasting William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Disney’s The Lion King the characters have similiar levels of comparison. Both Hamlet and the Lion King are stories centered around the following elements; truth, deception, revenge, romance, and the circle of life. The characters in both of the stories are constantly working to find their place in the circle of life throughout the story.
A hero’s journey consists of many mythological/archetypal characteristics--such as the characters, settings, situations, and outcomes. As unique as both stories are, The Lion King and Beowulf are great works of the hero’s journey following the mythological/archetypal path. The Lion King and Beowulf both revolve around the hero and outcast of the story. The quest and outcome are also other important components of the mythological/archetypal path.

The reason I think the Muppets movie is better than the book version is because, in the modern days, it is not like how it was before. Back then, kids used to love to read books when they had nothing better to do. Now that the internet is here, everyone forgets there was once a time that everyone read books to entertain themselves. The muppets movie will be very much more interesting because it'll profit the kids to want to watch it with the puppets. If I was a kid I would want the watch the movie more than I would prefer to read the book.
Life goes on, it's learned from a very young age that tough times happen but we can get through them. We learn this through storytelling, the use of words, and images. The author has this lesson in their mind before they even start writing the book. The Lion King, I’ll Always Love You, and Bambi all convey similar lessons to children through the use of language and images. Life goes on is one of many lessons taught to kids in the book The Lion King.
Society is an ever evolving element of life, and as society has changed over the years, so has works by authors and directors. As authors and directors gain influence from inspiring sources, they are also gaining influences from the surrounding culture and the time period that they are living in. This may even be subconsciously. New historicism is the theory that explains this and specifically focuses on just how the time period of a work changes and shows how an author's experiences come to life through a work. In Walt Disney’s, Cinderella, the time period glamorizes Cinderella’s journey to happiness while the Grimm Brothers version connects more with reality, teaching that media evolves to what society wants to see.
Mulan Disney Movie vs. The Legend of Mulan In China during the Northern Wei dynasty that lasted from 386A.D. to 534A.D. Hua Mulan lived but we all know about her story from the famous Disney movie “Mulan”. The Disney movie helps kids learn her story but is not the best source for the real facts. There are many differences between Mulan's’ legend and the “Mulan” Disney movie. The legend of Mulan tells us that Hua Mulan lived during the Northern Wei dynasty.
Once in our lives, we must embark on a journey to find ourselves. Though the destination may be the essential goal, the real reward is finding the hero within during the journey. Disney’s The Lion King begins with the birth of a lion cub named Simba. After a tragic accident, which kills his father, Mufasa, Simba is forced to run away from his home and his uncle, Scar, takes over Pride Rock.
According to Linda Seger in her essay Creating the Myth, “Myths are the common stories at the root of our universal existence. They’re found in all cultures and in all literature, ranging from the Greek myths to fairy tales, legends, and stories drawn from all of the world's religions.” (par. 5). Understanding this logic, it is crystal clear why the movie Lion king was such a successful Disney movie. After viewed in this viewpoint, Lion King turn out to be much more than a Disney movie about explorations of the young lion.
Disney vs. Grimm Fairytales (Rough Draft) Fairytales have majorly altered throughout history in a variety of disturbing ways. Grimm’s fairytales were known as gruesome parables that spoke of harsh realities and were told to people of all ages. Disney is identified by their hopeful and imaginary stories aimed at the audience of children. The reasoning behind this stark contrast of fairy tales is for numerous diverse explanations.
Disney vs. Grimm Throughout time there has been an alteration of fairy tales. Grimm brothers original stories are much more graphic and violent than the fairy tales we think of today. Disney dispalies stories that are less graphic and fit for children, while still using the main idea and concept of the original Grimm brothers’ stories. The alteration of fairy tales is displayed throughout the stories from the Grimm brothers and the newer stories brought by Disney.
