T.S Eliot was a British author who was born in St. Louis Missouri. He was known for writing so many poems. But one of his poems that made him famous was “The Love
Song of Alfred Prufrock” which appear in poetry in 1915. This poem was written during the modernism literary period. His poems were influenced by his personal background and the modernist literary, which has contributed to the American literary heritage. WW1 was also incorporated and some other historical events. Ms. Wheeler Another way that Eliot’s poetry was influenced by the modernism movement is because the power of disappointment and repugnance of the period after world war 1.
In the poem called “The Waste Land” it states, “April is the cruelest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire” Which demonstrates that the literary movement influenced the writing because it appears fragmentary, rambling and the sorrow that was happening back then. This poem also had some critics because supposedly it was hiding the truth about WW1 and the manipulating language made it worst. But even thought it was criticize, it was the most famous during that time.
To conclude, T.S Eliot wrote during modernism literary movement and his themes of loss of youth, happiness, disappointment and repugnance had a lot to do with the way he was writing.
