“The mind is everything. What you think you become.”( Buddha) . Edgar Allen Poe was known for writing stories that you could put your own interpretation on. Hs character choices were ones that had you thinking that he was a trouble man. Shirley Jackson was known for writing stories like Charles , The Lottery, and The Haunting of Hill House to name a few. Her stories had amazing plot twist. Edgar’s story Tell Tale Heart and Shirley’s Charles have very similar plots. They both talk about a person’s mind can make them see things. Also, what actions were caused from them seeing this image. Lastley, what were the consequences from the actions. The mind is a powerful thing. What their minds made the see? In the story of Tell Tale Heart the narrator starts by saying “-I undid it just so much that a single thin ray fell upon the vulture eye. And this I did for seven long nights --every night just at midnight --but I found the eye always closed; and so it was impossible to do the work; for it was not the old man who vexed me, but his Evil Eye. And every morning, when the day broke, I went boldly into the chamber, and spoke courageously to him, calling him by name in a hearty tone, and inquiring how he has passed the night. “ (Poe3).
