The same thing can be said about Rainsford from The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell and Katniss from The Hunger Games by Gary Ross. Rainsford and Katniss both are put in danger many times throughout the story, relying on their instincts to save them. Katnss and Rainsford both face danger and rely on instincts while going against unfair and cruel opponents. Katniss and Ransford both go through life and death situations. Since Rainsford is a hunter, he is tuff, meaning that he is strong and usually doesn't get into situations like this. So seeing him in this state is very unusual and shows that he is at risk of dying. In The Hunger Games, Katniss is being engulfed by fire forcing her to make a decision, she also gets burned in the leg. Her getting burned in the leg shows that Katniss is at risk of dying at any moment in the forest. She realized that she needed to be more cautious because she ended up getting caught off guard and injured. Katniss and Rainsford both heavily rely on their instincts. As Rainsford is running away from the hounds he reaches a dead end, he then jumps off the cliff into the ocean. “He heard the hounds. Then he leaped far out into the sea.” (Connell 12). Jumping into the raging sea is hard enough to get yourself to do, but when Rainsford hears the hounds his instincts know that he could die to the hounds, so he would rather take the chances of jumping off the cliff and living than getting eaten up by hounds, so he lept into the …show more content…

Although weapons and supplies were really enticing, going forward could be her last move she makes, as seen with the other people that attempted to go for the weapons. So instead of trying to grab something, she relies on her instincts and runs after the person with the weapons distracted and grabs a small thing which ends up saving her life. Katniss and Rainsford both face unfair and cruel opponents. Katniss and Peeta get attacked by speedy, ferocious and uncanny doglike creatures that the gamemakers sent out with the intent of killing certain people. The gamemakers are being unfair by sending creatures after them, the creatures they send are unbeatable by humans and the only way to survive against them is if you climb up something high, not to mention they also sent out multiple of these creatures. This is very cruel because they are sending these creatures to kill them specifically and not other people.
