Dying can be one’s new future if they run from their past. In two different books this is the outcome of running. Although some might disagree, running from one's past can change one’s future. Some say that running from the past will never change the future. They say their past will always follow them. In John Steinbeck’s book, Of Mice and Men, he tells a story about two guys named George and Lennie. In the book Lennie and George try to run to get away from what Lennie did in the past but his habits still follow. When he ran away from it, the habits and his past only followed him. I believe that running from one's past can change the future for them. Jon Krakauer wrote Into the Wild which follows the life of Christopher McCandless. In this book Chris doesn’t become what his father wants because he ran away. His father wanted him to go to college and become just like him. “My father’s faith in his blueprint was unshakeable. Chris dies at a young age because he tried to change his future. Chris McCandless changed his future for himself. He left college, burned all the cash in his wallet, and abandoned his car in an attempt to change what his future might have been.
