If you’d ever like to read a story about irony I suggest you read “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman or “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe. The literary definition of irony is “an outcome of events contrary of what was or might been expected”. In these two stories the authors use irony to help the reader get a better understanding of the characters in the story. Both stories are told through first person point of view, to put the reader in the mind of the main character. The central character in Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story “The Yellow Wallpaper” narrates her own life; however, the reader never learns her name.
