The United States were once called the thirteen colonies. They were once under the British King who they disliked because they were treated poorly (Declaration of Independence). This changed with the declaration of independence, which is a very important part of history. The constitution is also a very important part of history. Thomas Jefferson’s letter to Danbury Baptists was important because of Jefferson’s view of the separation of church and state. The two documents and letter are mostly different but they each had a very good purpose, and played a big part in the United States history. The Declaration of Independence was written first then the constitution. It’s important to know this because the constitution was the answer to the declaration of Independence. What is meant by this is that the Constitution is part of what the people asked for in the Declaration. The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence both shared a purpose to protect people and their rights and to keep things civil between everyone. The difference between the two is that the people who wrote the Declaration are asking to be rid of their old form of government, while the constitution is setting up a new one. …show more content…

The purpose of it was also so the people would have the rights which were denied to them by the King. The purpose of the Constitution was to set up a government for the United States. This was to insure that the people had representatives to fight for their rights and to keep everything going smoothly. I think the Constitution delivered what the Declaration of Independence pursued because they were separated from Britain. Also it made sure they had people representing them so their rights were not taken away
