Twelfth Night and She's the Man:
Viola's Character and Feelings Comparison Twelfth Night comparing to She’s the Man is very similar to each other. The play compared to She’s the Man has similar character names and similar character traits. Twelfth Night was written by William Shakespeare in 1601. Twelfth Night was towards those that want to be entertained. She’s the Man was directed by Andy Fickman in 2006. She’s the Man is towards those that want to be entertained and young teenage girls. While Viola’s motives for disguising herself as a man in Twelfth Night are for survival, the movie character does it to fulfill her desire to be treated equally to play soccer.
Violas motive for disguising herself in Twelfth Night is for survival. Viola in act 1 scene 2 sees herself as Olivia because they both lost her father and brother. This leads Olivia to give up men altogether. Viola empathizes with her situation and feels the need to go and serve for

“You kissed me” (Viola). Duke is so confused and is saying that he kissed Viola and not Sebastian. “What do you mean” (Duke)? Viola ends up taking off the wig and explaining everything to everyone and shows herself as a girl. Olivia is also shocked and was wondering who she had kissed and the real Sebastian ends up telling Olivia that he kissed her. “Wait a minute if I kissed your brother then where is he” (Olivia). Viola ends up playing as herself the rest of the game having no rules with having a girl play on the guys soccer team. She ends up helping the team to beat out Cornwall and it makes her really happy. Just like She’s the Man at the end of Twelfth Night Viola confesses that she is a girl. “If nothing lets to make us happy both/But this my masculine usurped attire/Do not embrace me till each circumstance”
