General Santa Anna, the Napoleon of the west experienced his Waterloo to the revengeful Texas cries of the "Remember the Alamo!” "Remember Goliad!” (McKeehan, n.d.). Santa Anna believed the Texans were demoralized following the Alamo and Goliad and victory would be easily attained. She argues that Iowa is in the middle of the country and its topography is also centralized because it helps transition travelers to what lays ahead in connecting states. She also goes into detail about the political and economic aspect of the state and how through the course of Iowa’s history Iowans became not exceedingly wealthy or poor, along with not being radically liberal or conservative but somewhere in the
The settlement of Charles Town was difficult to settle because of the geography, resources, and diseases. One of the ways Charles Town was difficult to settle was because of its Geography. On Document A it shows a map of Charleston. This map would have
There are two volumes of this book which the author called a narrative history of America. It comprises the information about the years from 1932 to 1972. And, unlike other typical (and boring) history books where the information is usually jumbled in decades, each of the 37 chapters of this book covers only one year. Here, I want to dwell upon The Part 1 (Prologue) and the years from 1932-1941.

Due to the existence of the automobile, the United States economy was changed forever. Originally, cars were hand made and only purchased by rich men due to their price. Due to Henry Ford, automobiles were eventually made available to the masses due to the fact that he concocted a way to produce the machine cheaper. This method was the assembly line, which impacted the amount of jobs available and the increased need of highways. The Geography of Nowhere, written by James Kunstler, discusses how the automobiles transformed America’s economy.

There is the idea of a city, and the city itself, too great to be held in the mind. And it is in this gap (between the conceptual and the real) that aggression begins” is central to Saunders’ essay, due to the fact that this quote illustrates Saunders’ message that people tend to have misconceptions generated from their own limited experience and misconceptions can easily lead to conflicts and aggression if handled
American Urbanization started like a wildfire and it spread so rapidly that facilities and institutions in society could not keep up. From 1850 to 1900 America completely changed from its agricultural state into a new industry based society. The four paramount changes that occured during America’s urbanization period were new immigration, the build up of cities (skyscrapers and mass transit), living conditions, and boss rule and the rise of mass consumption. Even though the changes during urbanization did not come easily due to immense diversity, they still paved the way to modern day America.
City life was changed drastically in the 1800s. “The most extensive urban renewal… took place in Paris in the 1850s. George Haussmann… built wide boulevards and splendid public buildings... Gradually, settlement patterns shifted” (250). Before, the streets were narrow and people didn’t have a lot of work to come by, and the reconstruction of the areas created many jobs.

And each brought me unique experiences, that when people ask “well which do you like best?” I could not possibly decide, as you cannot compare a city with one another for each was during a different time in my life and in different circumstances. The one thing they have in common- Quito, Rio de Janeiro, Panama City, Sydney, New York and Buenos Aires- is the presence of the international communities.
A city is a good place to continue the further education and to find a suitable job. A city can provide government facilities to its people which makes easy to sustain the life and to perform the task. In addition, the city may be regarded as a relatively permanent concentration of population, together with its diverse habitations, social arrangements, and supporting activities. Cities might differ in cultural aspects and from other types of human settlement and association. Today I am comparing and contrasting my hometown, Kathmandu and the city I am living in, Colorado.
Living in a diverse world it’s distinction and similarities. The village is a small area with a small population. Life in the village is very basic and traditional while life in the city is full of luxury and modernity. Cities have a large population and it is often noisy and crowded. On the other hand, the lifestyles in villages and urban areas are totally different, but you can hardly find any similarities.
