In chapter 7 Luis goes to east LA to riot. He goes to riot about the Vietnam war because they don 't want to send more mexicans to the war. Things start to get violent and in a turn of events he gets arrested and taken to jail. He later gets released with no trial or questioning. Back at school he starts a walk off to protest better conditions for the students.

The Vietnam and Iraq war, two wars during drastically different time periods and drastically different circumstances, but still have many similarities. Of course there are obvious comparisons such as the location of the two countries or the number of casualties, but looking beyond these allows for a better understanding of these two wars. For example, The United States had a completely different goal when entering the Vietnam war compared to the Iraq war. In the Iraq war, the US only wanted to defend South Vietnam, but In Iraq the US wanted to start and support a new government. Another thing to keep in mind is the drastic difference in the length of these wars.
1. What problems did the United States face in the Vietnam War? As the United States struggled against communism in Vietnam, it would face many problems. In the late 1950’s President Eisenhower and later President Kennedy sent military supplies and advisers to South Vietnam. Despite the American aid the Vietcong grew stronger with support from North Vietnam.
The Vietnam War had many consequences for the United States. When the American soldiers came back to the United States they had a lot of social difficulties. Not to mention they became addicted to heroin. As well as after war affects that changed the way America approaches military actions. This is how the Vietnam War changed America.
The Vietnam War drastically changed how Americans viewed their country. The US emerged from World War II as a world superpower and as a country where patriotism meant serving one’s country and following authority’s orders. However, in the 1960s, the discontent of many minority groups who believed that the “American Dream” was only obtainable by a select few, led to many social changes in the US. This discontent also fueled the many individuals who questioned what the US was doing fighting communism on the other side of the world. The Vietnam War divided American society at home on their views on national pride, police protection and justice, and trust in the US government, and also changed Americans view of their countries nobility.

The Vietnam War happened from 1954 to 1975, it was the longest war that the United States ever fought beside the Civil War. Vietnam is located southeast of Asia, near Thailand. The Vietnam War was fought over communist expansion. More than 3 million people were killed in this war. The war began with South Vietnam and North Vietnam.
It is quite difficult to compare two wars that happened 180 years apart from each other, the Vietnam war 1955 to 1975, and the American Revolutionary war 1775 to 1783. Yes, both wars are all that different from each other, in fact I would say that they were the two least similar wars in American history. These wars are very similar because they both used guerilla warfare, a form of irregular warfare that uses tactics such as ambushes, sabotage, raids, and mobility to fight a larger less mobile military force. However a major difference in the wars was that the Revolutionary war was fought to gain independence, while the Vietnam war was fought to maintain independence. Another difference is that the U.S. were ‘Victors’ in the Revolutionary war, and were not so in the Vietnam war.
American soldiers were sent to be stationed in Vietnam, to try to prevent the spread of communism. Many Americans were against American involvement in Vietnam because it cost America about $2.5 billion dollars a year and the money was coming from the taxpayers. Throughout the war, American soldiers faced many challenges. One challenged American soldiers faced was actually reaching the Viet Cong. In order to reach the Viet Cong soldiers, American soldiers known as tunnel rats had to climb down in tunnels to be successful during the war.
I have prepared this report as you requested based on our earlier conversation regarding my proposal to write an article discussing the parallels between the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War and the Canadian involvement in the Afghanistan War. Being an American draft dodger myself, I felt there were many parallels to discuss. Both these conflicts had troops hunting through rough terrain for an elusive enemy who attempted to hide among the general population or take sanctuary across the border in neighboring countries. For example The Viet Cong and regular North Vietnamese troops used Laos and Cambodia as sanctuaries, while The Taliban used the tribal areas of neighboring Pakistan as a refuge. Government corruption was widespread in Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam during the Vietnam war, as was also true of the government in Kabul.

As she recounted to me her memories of the war she recalled that she was already living in California, engaged to be married to my grandfather. The United States of America(U.S.A) is always considered as the most felicitous implement of power separation. Its constitutional law consists of shadows that John Locke advocated. Even though no such wording found in the constitutional law, it have given clear guidelines to follow; it indicate that all legislative powers shall be vested in a Congress, the executive power in a President, and judicial power of the United States in one Supreme Court" and "in such inferior Courts as the Congress may establish. Their approach is to set up a governmental system to maximize civil freedom, instead of maximum efficiency. " it is not possible to give to each department an equal power of self-defense.
Vietnam and the United States have quite a unique and contrasting relationship with each other. Despite functioning with major cultural and political ideological differences, both countries are in civil agreement and each proud of their own social and economic successes. The United States, built upon democracy, has thrived as a current global leader while Vietnam’s growth is entirely controlled by the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Although under a communist regime, Vietnam’s GDP or economic growth has seen major progressions in recent years with the government’s commitment to reformation while the United States seem much steadier due to its size. The two countries make for a great evaluation due to the listed and other social differences that has resulted in their current economic state.
The Vietnam War was a war the United States should have never been involved in. The “Domino Theory” was a direct cause of the war. The war resulted in much death; innocent civilians and young Americans were killed. The Vietnam war also resulted in rioting, distrust for the United States government, and the loss of many lives. 58,000 Americans were killed and 300,000 were wounded.
