Harlan Ellison, a well-known author, wrote many stories, including the script for the famous movie Star Trek: “ The City on the Edge of Forever ”. Ellison’s love for writing inspired much of America’s young authors, such as “ I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream” and “Dangerous Visions”. “ I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream ” was a short story written in 1967, focusing on emotions and people’s deepest fears. It was a well-liked story that won the Hugo Award and the Science Fiction Achievement Award. “ I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream ” was just one of many great short stories Harlan Ellison wrote.
“ The author of “ I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream ” was born, Harlan Jay Ellison, on May 27, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio. ” ( Scott 51 ) As a child, his father, Louis Laverne Ellison, died suddenly. When Ellison was old enough, he worked at odd jobs to support his mother, Serita Rosenthal Ellison. Ellison’s writing career started at the age of 13, through the publishing of his first short story in the Cleveland News. “ Three years later, he founded the Cleveland Science Fiction Society. ” ( Ullmann ) For college, Ellison attended Ohio State University.
