With over 140 graduate programs, Ball State University is a medium sized college, although it may feel like a big campus. It has a great academic program, along with great great internships and job opportunities. Students here also have a chance to interact with their career field before actually having to go into it. It has a great graduation rate and the campus not being too small or too big, it is a wonderful university to attend for all of these great reasons. Climate
While the school is smaller it can still look good and many believe that if the university were to put more money into building up the facilities then it would drawl in a higher caliber of student athletes. Just because something is generally big does not mean that it is better than something else that is generally small. If a student attends a Division I school, that does not make that student smarter than someone in a Division III school and the same can be said when pertaining to work. Jud Damon, the athletic director at Flagler College, prefers working for a smaller school rather than working for a Division I school or even a professional team. All that matters to him is that he is happy where he is and that is the message Mr. Damon looked to send during his presentation. As athletic director, Mr. Damon has many duties that all pertain to managing the athletic department of the school.
When it come to picking a college it's going off based on what the student environment, learning type, and etc. I believe another essay that ties into Liz Addison Essay is “ Colleges Prepares People for Life” by Freeman Hrabowski. Freeman Hrabowski, president of University of Maryland, in his essay he argues “echoed an increasingly common refrain that college is expensive, that students are taking on unmanageable debt and that they too often graduate unprepared for the world of work” (259). According to both Addison and Hrabowski, college is expensive, but Addison believes that there are ways around paying a high cost of going to college. In addition, Hrabowski feels that even though colleges has ways around paying high cost that either way it goes it would be a bad investment, due to, a student dropping out, or not passing a class.

Choosing the right College: Kentucky or Indiana Indiana University and Kentucky University are two schools that are very similar. They have a lot of the same majors and life careers. But when you look at the expense of the schools it’s very different. Indiana University is a much larger school than Kentucky. Averaging about 48,514 students enrolled every year.
Picking the right college for me is more about the price aspect rather than having the “college experience”. Bowling Green State University for commuting students is around 10,600 for one full year ("Bowling Green State University."). I find that having an affordable tuition cost is more of a better outcome in the long run for your future. While Bowling Green State University is more affordable, Towson is the complete opposite. Towson is around 36,300 for a full year for out of state
There are many differences between HBCU’s and PWI’s. “An Historically Black Institution were founded by people who believed African Americans and white students have an equal right to be educated” (Prager 1). Today these institutions function to preserve the history of African American culture, while providing students a safe and comfortable platform for educational enrichment (Roebuck 1). Predominately white institutions serve to educate all students, but since the majority of the population is white, the concerns of the majority students will be made a priority (Roebuck 2). Both types of institutions have a multitude of differences including funding, learning style, and school environment.
First, there is a dramatic difference in distance. For a graduate from an Arkansas high school, the distance to Texas A&M University is considerably larger than that of the University of central Arkansas. UCA is in the same state as the graduate, therefore, the student would be able to go home frequently or simply have the assurance that family is close by. Texas A&M is a much farther college in the state of Texas. Due to the larger distance, there would not be as much of a family safety net.
So if you go to a better school your degree would be more “valuable”, which means you would have a better job. This is not always true. Yes it may look good on your resume, but you are not going to be picked for a job just of a piece of paper. What is mostly important is the job candidate themself. It is all about if you can qualify for the job and if you are going to be best fit for it.
The biggest thing to keep in mind here is it takes millions to keep a big program on its feet. Take a football program for example; rarely do University
There is a distinct line between the two, and all you have to look at are the sports facilities on the campus. If a student athlete that only want d to go to college for athletics had the choice to go to North Carolina or Harvard, he would most likely choose North Carolina. What if the same situation was used, but this particular athlete could be paid by any college? If he was going to college to play sports and Harvard offered him more money than North Carolina, then the athlete would be more likely to choose Harvard. This just shows how corrupt college sports could get if the athletes were paid.
In the United States a community college is defined as a nonresidential junior college offering courses to people living in a particular area. They are post secondary schools and are also referred to as junior colleges, vocational or technical schools because generally the course of study is for two years. The student can earn an associates degree or certification and/or continue their education by transfering to a four year college to complete their educational pursuits and earn a Bachelor 's degree. Community colleges started in the late 1800’s and have grown and evolved over the years. Today many four year colleges and universities have become so expensive to attend that many prospective students are opting for the more affordable alternative of a community college for their first two years of study where they can save money by living at home and taking classes that will transfer to a four year institution, however, there are students that cannot afford the lower cost of community colleges.
Community colleges are important because they provide an affordable alternative to postsecondary education. They offer open admission, flexible schedules, and convenient locations. Community colleges make up a large part of the higher education system, enrolling more than six million students and growing rapidly. They help students become prepared to enter the workforce or transition into a four-year school. But even with all the steps taken to make community colleges accessible to all, there are still thousands of students who cannot afford to attend.
