Mike Jeffries negative attitude about selling bigger sized clothes has effect people all over the world. But every negative has a positive side, so maybe selling smaller sizes could be a good thing or possibly a bad thing. Should Abercombie and Fitch sell smaller sizes? No, I disagree with what Mike Jeffries is doing with his clothing line at Abercrombie and Fitch. Obviously, Abercrombie and Fitch need to change something about only selling smaller sizes, which is why they are losing money and customers. By Abercrombie and Fitch not selling smaller clothes people may get offended even if they can wear the smaller sizes. Just because a person is bigger doesn't mean they are uncool or not worthy. It makes bigger people feel worthless and causes depression. Also, One thing that offended girls is that they are selling larger sizes for men because they want bigger, muscular men to wear there clothes, but a women can't be muscular or have bigger boobs or butt and still look good and be worthy of the clothes? Also, a person can be skinny and tall, but taller people have to wear larger sizes because they have long legs or torsos, so by them no selling larger clothes they lose almost half of the people in the world to wear there clothes. To answer the question “Should Abercombie and Fitch sell smaller clothes?” I would have to say that there are some good reasons for selling smaller sizes. Mr.lewis co-author of “The new rules of Retail”, said “People who wear his clothing should feel like they're one of the “cool kids”” (Daily mail Reporter). Being cool nowadays is really important as well as wearing Abercrombie and Fitch, all the cool, skinny kids wear Abercrombie and Fitch so everyone else wants to wear it too. By only selling smaller sizes to the “cool kids”, it could make their clothing line look better and possibly attract cooler kids. Other teenagers will see those “cool kids” wearing the clothes and maybe will go and buy Abercrombie and Fitch clothing, and so Abercrombie and Fitch will make more money and look “good”. Alisa Durando, one of the designers of Abercrombie and Fitch said, “ There was a brand filter that said everything needed to be cute and sexy, It didn’t matter that we were becoming more narrow in terms of who was able to wear our clothes” (Bloomberg). Mike Jeffries and the designers didn't care that they were making only smaller clothes, they were designing things that they thought looked good.
