Prompt #14 “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!” I believe I am related to the movie character Dory. She is from the movie Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory. She and I are similar in many ways. Three of the ways include, we are both forgetful, we both have high spirits and are confident, and we both have sympathy for people and objects. Dory proclaimed in the first movie that she had short-term memory loss. We discovered throughout the movie that this was true. She had a habit of forgetting what she was talking about, or what she was doing, a couple of seconds after she talked. For example, in the beginning of the movie Finding Nemo, when Marlin loses his son, Nemo, he searches all over the sea and finds Dory. He asks Dory if she has seen the boat that Nemo was taken away on. Dory acknowledges that she’s seen the boat and starts leading Marlin towards that direction. I relate to Dory in this way because I try to “see the good” in everything and keep my spirits high. When they encountered the sharks in the movie Finding Nemo, Marlin was terrified, but Dory was confident and stayed positive. She gave the sharks an opportunity to prove that they were kind, instead of automatically dismissing them. I relate to her in this way because I try to look on the bright side in hard times and try to stay positive and make people happy. I also believe in second chances and not judging someone at first glance. Another example was in the first movie, Finding Nemo, when they came upon the layers of jelly fish, and Dory created a game to find the way out. She managed to lift Marlin’s spirits and made the adventure more enjoyable. Dory also lifts people’s spirits outside of the movie. If someone is having a bad day, or something isn’t going their way, Dory gives everyone a good laugh and smile. I like to try and cheer up people when they’re sad as
