The two stories, Drumbeats and Bullets and The Drummer Boy of Shiloh have many comparisons and contrasts. One story is mostly fact based, while the other is more of a story. Both stories have facts about the life in war as a drummer boy. Johnny Clem (from Drumbeats and Bullets) and Joby (from The Drummer boy of Shiloh) can relate in many different ways.they also have factors that make them very different. Drumbeats and Bullets is a factual story about the not so simple life of a drummer boy. It differs from The Drummer Boy of Shiloh because on of the characters, Johnny Clem, is very brave and has great determination, while Joby is weak, and very scared about the upcoming war. On the other hand, it relates to the other story because in both stories, the two drummer boys run away at a young age. Drumbeats and Bullets, in my opinion, has more differences than similarities comparing to The Drummer Boy of Shiloh. The Drummer Boy of Shiloh is a story that sounds more like an illustrated story, compared to Drumbeats and Bullets. This story also talks about the life of a drummer boy. This story differs from the other because Joby didn't become a sergeant, like Johnny Clem did. In fact, Joby was even scared to stand in the field as a drummer boy. Another reason how it differs from the other story is because this story didn't specify exactly where the battle was located. The story relates to the other because they are both talking about the importance of being a drummer boy. These stories have many comparisons and contrasts to one another. In my opinion, these stories have many more contrasts than comparisons. A similarity they have is that in The Drummer Boy of Shiloh, it adds the important detail of the battle being in a peach orchard , "In the April night, more than once, blossoms fell from the orchard trees and lighted with rustling taps on the drumhead."
