The founding of the United States of America, was a pivotal moment in history as it birthed one of the strongest and most powerful nations. Following the aftermath of the American revolution, the new country was left drowning on debt and needing someone or someone’s to shape it. The founding fathers of the U.S was made up by a number of men, but fundamentally there were 3: George Washington, James Maddison, and Alexander Hamilton. These men all had different roles that helped shape the United States into the nation it is today. GEORGE WASHINGTON George Washington was the first president of the United States, and some could argue one of the most famous presidents. He led as Major-General of the continental army during the American Revolution, and worked to lead the country from the disarray left by the revolution, to a unified nation, whilst repairing foreign relations and building a strong economy. Washington had the opportunity to act as if he were a king, yet throughout his administration he carefully avoided mirroring a monarchy. He refused to do such things, as wearing a military uniform to public events, as is custom for a king. Washington also set the custom for two terms in office, when at the end of his second term he decided to retire from the position (however, this was not a law and Franklin Roosevelt is the only president to have served more than two terms, with an amendment to the constitution being made afterwards to prevent this).
