How can society advance peace when one tyrant wants to use pure evil as persuasion? In the play Macbeth (written by Shakespeare) and the acts of Osama Bin Laden, one statement that is heard from everyone is that “one must fall, for others to progress”. Macbeth and Osama Bin Laden both rose to power through intimidation and pure violence. Both political leaders had no limits to how far they’d use violence in order to obtain a certain status or objective. In this analysis, the reader will able to see how history repeats itself through the actions that take place before/during their rise to power, the influence they had on other people, and most of all, how they’re downfall saved society.
In ‘Macbeth’, Shakespeare shows the gradual change in the protagonist Macbeth by displaying how he goes from a hero to a tyrant. Similarly, in ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’, Stevenson includes the downfall of his protagonist in his story by showing him as a prestigious gentleman at the start of the play, but near the end he is shown as the villainous Mr Hyde. In ‘Macbeth’ the protagonists downfall is somewhat caused by the Witches and Lady Macbeth whereas in ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ the protagonists downfall is due to his addiction to his potion. At the start of the play, Macbeth is shown as kind and brave due to his acts in the war. King Duncan says, “What he hath lost, noble Macbeth hath won”.
Compare and Contrast Macbeth and Film Act 1 scene 1: The 3 witches recited a spell or curse right away instead of starting with the first line in the play, “When shall we meet again..” (Shakespeare, 302). The second version we watched was less dramatic than the 1948 movie.
Evil and ambition for power can make you do many evil things that maybe you didn't mean to do in the first place just so you can have power. Joseph Stalin and Macbeth have similar traits when they become leaders. The leader of the Soviet Union Joseph Stalin can be compared to Macbeth because of the evil ways they both portray. Saddam Hussein did not know how to civilly operate with others around once he rose to great power; so he was forced to use his village mentality where violence is the rule of law, thus leading to his intense and irrational cruelty.

However, after their encounter with the Three Weird Sisters, they began to show their differences through the actions they make in regards to prophecies they were given. Macbeth and Banquo were both heroic, noble and brave leaders who led their armies to victory numerous of times. They were loyal subjects to the king, and they lived their lives continuously fighting for him as well as the country.
