Home healthcare, as its name would suggest, is the delivery of healthcare services that are provided for a patient in their home for injury or health problems, ultimately promoting self-care and independence (Nelson & Staggers, 2014a., p. 149). A clinical data repository (CDR) is a storage database that collects patient information; either manual or automated, from multiple sources and houses them in one single document, allowing for better care quality. The disadvantage this component is that a patient’s record can grow tremendously large with data that become less relevant with time. The master person index (MPI) is an electronic medical database that stores information on every person, patient, or customer registered at a healthcare organization. The MPI stores demographic information to include name, address, phone numbers, date of birth, and sex of each registered member (Nelson & Staggers, 2014b., p.199). Used for data collection, review and reporting, patient management, and clinician productivity, clinical applications provide the interactive views of the EHR to clinicians. Lastly, a data dictionary is a collection of the medical vocabulary terms that are used to describe the type of data that is collected within the repository.
