For instance, in Hamlet's scene with her mother, telling her “Not this, by no means, that I bid you [Sleeping with him]” (Shakespeare 74), which his mother is emotionally hurt by and expresses her sorrow to Hamlet by “Be thou assured, if words be made of breath And breath of life, I have no life to breathe What thou hast said to me.” (Shakespeare 74). This part of the scene is seen in the movie between the timeline of 2:19:00 where Hamlet takes her mother’s hand and throws her on the couch until 2:24:00 where he leaves the scene with the dead body of Polonius he had killed prior. This scene between Hamlet and his mother is one of the vivid examples to showcase their broken relationship and the words getting spitted out of Hamlet’s mouth, hurting Gertrude’s emotions and leading to tearing up their mother-son relationship.
