Critical Thinking Development Critical thinking can have different meanings, depending on the person. To me, critical thinking means advancing ones thinking to the level that one can properly certain situations and self-examine, as well as take a more in-depth view of the world’s complexities. Developing one’s critical thinking takes more than simply understanding the components of critical thinking. Studying and demonstrating the components help to better understand the concept and improve one’s thinking process. Although developing critical thinking skills isn’t the same as learning other skills and can take more work, it is definitely a skill worth having that will prove to be beneficial in every aspect of life. Throughout my MSLD program, I have been able to learn and demonstrate thinking skills in various types of settings, and I think that my critical thinking skills have improved. However, based on all of my results of the Critical Thinking Basic Concepts & Understanding Test, my understanding of critical thinking is not as thorough as it should be, and it has not changed much since my first time taking the assessment. My first score of the assessment was a 57%, and the second score was a 49%. My current score was 59%. In each assessment, I scored around the same percentages for each part, and for my last two assessments, I scored the exact number out of 14 for the categories of Intellectual Trait or Virtue and Obstacle to Critical Thinking, which is a slight improvement from my first …show more content…

I still average between 50% and 70% in each category. Although I, personally, think these are decent averages, I aspire to learn more about the components of critical thinking in the future and demonstrate them in any aspect of my life that I can. While I admit that my own critical thinking skills have not advanced as much as I would have liked, I would like to further advance my skills in the future. Since I learn best through demonstration and practice, I plan to develop my skills by using them in different settings, as a leader of my church and in the designated departments of my organization, as well as in my everyday life, so that I can learn to adapt to my thinking skills whenever necessary. I also want to further examine my own biases and other obstacles that may be preventing me from advancing my skills. No matter how long it may take me to develop these skills and use them to their full potential, I am optimistic about my chances of doing
