Patrick Moore, Cello with guest artist Rodney Waters, Piano performed at Cullen Recital Hall on August 28, 2015 at 7:30pm. The pieces that were performed, “Schelomo: Rhapsody Hébraïque” by Ernest Bloch, “Cello Sonata, Op.65” that included 5 pieces by Benjamin Britten, and “Le Grande Tango” by Astor Piazzolla. “Cello Sonata, Op.65” included the Dialogo, Scherzo Pizzicato, Elegia, Marcia, and Molto Perpetuo. Patrick Moore and Rodney Waters started the concert with the “Schelomo: Rhapsody Hébraïque”. The piece started with a softness on the cello with the piano playing along as well. Personally, there were several variation of themes within this particular piece. The emotions of each performer displayed throughout the piece led the listeners to feel that this particular piece was written with a bit of sadness in Ernest Bloch. “Cello Sonata, Op.65” had a slight upbeat and more fortissimo to the piece than the “Schelomo: Rhapsody Hébraïque”. There was more of a bouncy theme to the beginning which lead to a quicker tempo. Benjamin Britten did not hesitate to leap straight to the climax. What initially started in fortissimo soon went to mezzo piano. However, Piazzolla did not let this last long for it went right back to fortissimo. The piece started in a climax and had several climaxes throughout the piece. There also was a variation of themes throughout the piece which made it seem like although Piazzolla appeared to have a bit of anger in him he also had a slight sadness in himself as well. Eventually the theme is then shifted into a piano and takes the listener into what makes them feel as if they are in a calm peaceful
